Dependability (Availability & Reliability)
Higher Availability, Reliability and
Maintainability (ARM) offers both increased operational capability and
reduced support costs. Poor ARM characteristics can result in reduced
operational effectiveness of a system, a greater risk of accidents and
higher cost of ownership as well as a considerable reduction in customer
satisfaction. Good ARM characteristics are inherent in a design and
cannot be a last minute add-on.
SAS has experience of applying key standards,
such as Defence Standards 00-25, 00-40, 00-41, 00-42, 00-43, 00-44,
Military Standards 1629, 470 and British Standard BS5760. In addition
to this an SAS Team member helped to develop Def Stan 00-42 Part 3 on
the R&M Case and is a member of the IMechE Committee developing
strategies, guidance and Policy on R&M. We can support your
organisation in areas such as:
-
Formulation of a cost effective
Dependability Strategy and Programme
-
Production and use of appropriate R&M
Requirements based on stakeholder needs and trade-offs
-
R&M Modelling and Prediction
-
R&M trade off studies
-
Failure Mode Effects and Criticality
Analysis (FMECA) and Fault Tree Analysis
-
Reliability-Centred Maintenance
-
Reliability Testing and Demonstration
Trials
-
Defect / Data Reporting and Corrective
Action Systems (DRACAS)
-
Production of System R&M Assurance
documentation (e.g. R&M Case Report, Software Reliability Case)
